The reconstructed clay floors at Montpelier are one of the first to be reconstructed at a historic site. While the visitors who walk over the clay floor at Montpelier are having a unique experience for our generation, they are actually treading across a surface that would have been seen as very common to a vast majority of Colonial Americans.
