These mortises turned out to belong to the posts that framed the ca. 1797 doorway and clearly showed that the ca. 1797 door was narrower than the door installed in ca. 1812.  While the ghosts on the floor revealed important information about the ca. 1812 door’s trim, unfortunately no information survived that revealed how the ca. 1797 door was trimmed.
