Amazingly, evidence for these shelves, as indicated by long, narrow pockets in the masonry, had been found on the bricks that formed the ca. 1797 closet’s west wall.  When the ghosts on studs were compared to the shelf pockets found on the masonry they were found to line up perfectly.
