Whitewashing the walls was one of the final steps in the restoration of the North Cellar Kitchen.  After the restoration, the rough texture of the North Kitchen's whitewashed walls helps to define the room as a functional workspace that served a distinctly different use than the more decorative rooms found on Montpelier's first and second floors.
