Similarly, when the plaster was removed from the west wall, two wooden nailers were found embedded in the masonry.  Elsewhere in the house, such as in the South Passage, whenever this type of nailer was found in the masonry it was a sign that paneling, also known as wainscot, had been installed in the room.
