Reconstructing the ca. 1797 Stair
The final major architectural feature for the stair was the paneled spandrel found between the floor and the stair's open stringer. For this detail, the stair at Ellwood was again consulted and, since the design was found reflected in other stairs of the period, it was reproduced for the spandrel's paneling.
